The reason you start something can be very powerful. Staying true to yourself and your purpose is the challenge.

As I write and distill my thoughts on why we started Takes a Break, I  keep returning to our original inspiration: A need for more ease in our lives.

Have you ever:

  • Become so engrossed in your career, relationships, or day-to-day activities that you forget to stop and appreciate life itself?

  • Had your [Insert brand here] Watch to remind you to breathe?

  • Noticed that the only time you rest is if you fall ill?

  • Needed to Take a Break but just didn’t know how?

  • Lost sight of your initial inspiration?

Life is busy, regardless of whether you’re a party of one or have a big bustling family.

You may be a frontline worker or holding down a desk in the middle of the city (or still figuring out WFH life).

Maybe you’re just looking to make ends meet.

In the midst of everyday life, it’s easy to forget about yourself and your own needs.

In this issue, we pay tribute to you.

Let’s keep true to our initial inspiration of ease.

My role as Editor is to help gear us--this community of Break Takers (i.e., YOU!)--on the continuous exploration of Taking a Break. Whatever that Break may look like: Ease, Ideas, Rest, Play, Connection, or something else.

If you are already a Break Taking guru, which is its own journey, welcome! This is a new journey for us all, we are honored you are here with us so that we may all benefit from each other.

That’s all I got!
